What does it mean to be an artist?
This question plagues my every waking moment, along with innumerable variations like “when can one start considering oneself an artist?” and “who determines who is an artist?” Ironically, within this seemingly unanswerable phenomenon lies the basis of my work as a multimedia artist.
Born and raised in Toledo, Ohio, Emma Morgenstern is a multimedia artist specializing in in charcoal drawing, stoneware ceramic sculpture, and graphic design. Regardless of media, Emma’s work could be considered collage in a conceptual–and also often literal–sense. Her love for geometric precision and her cartoon style–apparent throughout a lot of her work–stems from her background in vector graphic creation; she herself says that she owes her love of art to Adobe Illustrator.
